An author, writer and citizen of the Navajo Nation, Esther values story. She teaches in the Native American & Indigenous Studies Department at Fort Lewis College and is a practitioner of Restorative Justice. She is a creator of visual and literary arts. She is a graduate of UC Berkeley, IAIA and Antioch University. Her process is rooted to the concept of kinship, or relationality, and the reciprocity that flows from kinship. Esther is the first Poet Laureate of Durango. Esther enjoys going home to Diné bikéyah, the homeland of the Navajo people, for cultural events and to get recharged spending time on the land.
